How to get to Nankai University

The Chern Institute of Mathematics (CIM) of Nankai University is located in Tianjin, which is one of the biggest cities in China, and is located about 120km southeast from Beijing.  

Travel Arrangements:

There are many travelagencies around the world specializing in travel to China . They offer deep discounted airfare to China via a dozen of airlines. Early booking is strongly encouraged given the increased travel volume in the summer. A good place to get you started is Google or Yahoo, where you can find a long list of travel agencies featuring travel to China and Asia. At www.airchina.com.cn or www.travelocity.com one can find information on traveling to China, flights and tickets. 

By air:

One may fly to Beijing Capital Airport (PEK), or to Tianjin through Shanghai,or to Tianjin Airport (TSN) through Hong Kong.

From Tianjin International Airport 

You can get to Nankai University by taxi. Ittakes about 45 minutes with a cost about 50-70 RMB.

From Beijing International Airport

By bus: You can get to Air China Ticket Office at Nanjing Road in down town Tianjin by bus from the Beijing Airport, and then to Nankai University by taxi. It takes about 2.5-3 hours fromthe Beijing Airport to Nanjing Road, Tianjin by bus through highway with a cost about 70-80 yuan RMB (the Chinese currency). The taxi from the Air China Ticket Office at Nanjing Road to Nankai University runs about 15 minutes and costs about 15-20 RMB in general.

By train: You can get to the Beijing Railway Station from the Beijing Airport by Airport Shuttle Bus which costs about 20 yuan RMB or by taxi, and then to the Tianjin Railway Station by train and to Nankai University by taxi. It takes about 80 minutes from Beijing Railway Station to Tianjin Railway Station by train. Usually there is a train every hour from around 8:00am to 6:00pm which costs about 35 yuan RMB. A taxi from the Tianjin Railway Station to Nankai University runs about 20-30 minutes and costs about 20-25 yuan RMB.

The organizing Committee will arrange pick-ups for  invited speakers from Beijing and/or Tianjin Airport provided we know the exact arriving time. 

Accommodation 

All participants will live in the guest houses of Nankai Universityin the campus and have meals in the dinning hall of the hotel. We will provide full accommodations for free for invited speakers during their stay in CIM totake part in the conference.

If the invited speaker and/or his/her accompanying persons have special needs in accommodations (food and/or housing), please inform the organizing committee as early as possible.

Weather 

May is among the best seasons in Tianjin.The weather in Tianjin area then is usually fine and the temperature is usually between 20ºC and 30ºC.We suggest participants to bring umbrella with them. Please check http://www.Yahoo.com (or http://weather.news.sina.com.cn)   for more precise weather broadcasting of the weeks of your stay in Tianjin before your coming.

Visa to China 

Foreign visitor would need a valid entry visa to enter China . You can obtain a Chinese visa at Chinese Embassy/Consulatesin your country of residence. Normally, a Google search will discover the location of the Chinese Consulate near your place.

Currency Exchange: If you come from abroad, please have some of your currency exchanged before arrival or at the Chinese airport. The local transportation services take only Chinese Yuan (RMB). Of course, you can exchange for RMB at banks in Tianjin after your arriving. Please bring your passport when you make the exchange. Banks and their airport branches are the only legal money exchange authorities in China. The approximate currency exchange rate can be found at              http://www.xe.com/ucc/.  Roughly 1 Euro is equivalent to 10 yuan RMB.
